Inspired by some recent threads, I decided to try a solo game of B2: Keep on the Borderlands. I decided to go with a "high powered, but solo, character"--crazy high stats, 2nd Ed Skills and Power character, the works. I played it pretty straight--just using Mythic as an Oracle to answer any questions, but otherwise approaching it "as is." Ended up being rather fun, until my character was betrayed and fed to a bunch of gray oozes.
Now I think I want to mess around with some more classic module play. But maybe try running a group. Can't be much more challenging that running a PC and a bunch of hirelings (of dubious loyalty).
Really nice!
ReplyDeleteMarch is now the unofficial "Lone Wolf Roleplaying Solo a Module Month"
ReplyDeleteSpencer Salyer ah, man, I should’ve been doing it as an AP!
ReplyDeleteI hope we get a write up of your party adventure.
ReplyDeleteRunning a party is fun, and the inter-party dynamics make it doubly so. And it's not as if you have to worry about one of your PCs murdering another one. Oh, wait...

I can totally get behind March Module Month. :-)
ReplyDeleteSpencer Salyer kkkkkkkkkk! Really good!
ReplyDeleteTodd Zircher So can I!
ReplyDelete+1 for March Module Month. Running a module solo myself at the moment: Keep on the Shadowfell from D&D 4th, however I run it using The Black Hack combined with some house rules. Will have the first AP up soon.

ReplyDeleteHello!
Why the "unofficial" month? How about making an announcement as a separate post and go official (kind of)?
Yours,
Deathworks
EDIT: I am now looking through my games for some module/adventure to solo for this occasion.
we are about the ides of march therefore: "Veni, Vidi, Lusi" :)
ReplyDeleteI'm now involved in playing and developing my wargame (sieges now) therefore I have to skip this opportunity but I'd like to read what you do
Et tu, lino pang ?
ReplyDeleteCoincidentally, just last week I rolled up a quick classic Traveller party and ran them through Death Station. Since I had played it once before (years ago) I made the opposition slightly more dangerous; the party succeeded, and with only 50% casualties.
Deathworks DW I was merely jesting since it was a hot topic recently, and this isn't my group! It could certainly be proposed to Alex Yari and Chris Stieha , though. Otherwise it's "unofficial"... haha. :-)
ReplyDeleteIm all for it so break a leg.
ReplyDeleteSpencer Salyer Make a main post introducing "March Module Month" and make it official! It will be great to have a series of posts to point to when people ask about playing modules!
ReplyDeleteAlex Yari Spencer Salyer and anyone else: Do you want me to make a specific category for this or should it be hash tagged?
ReplyDeleteSpencer Salyer I can make a main post. I have a little time.
ReplyDeleteHey Chris Stieha, whichever one you think works best. :) Categories are more visible in the group itself, but hashtags have wider reach.
ReplyDeleteI am looking foward to see what this month will bring!
