Hobby Games Recce

Hobby Games Recce
I’m briefly emerging from the Hermitage at the Edge of Oblivion for a quick post about a new project I’m pursuing (while wrapping up something else I hope to release shortly). It should come as no surprise it’s a D6 System solitaire adventure.... Of possible interest to the Lone Wolves is my conundrum about programmed solo adventures and the limits they impose by their very nature on tactical infinity.

  1. I am definitely interested in seeing where this leads.

I find programmed adventures something of a necessary evil. Sometimes I really want to play a solitaire RPG, but find my creativity at that moment flagging. At other times, it's nice just to have an adventure with puzzles to solve.

I don't usually mind the limited options, except where it comes to the roleplayng aspect. It's hard when the adventure calls for 'any character' or 'any non-spellcaster', but the writing assumes assumes your PC is only a set of stats which are waiting to have an author-imposed personality added to them.

  2. I bought in to the Rider of the Black Sun gamebook, so I've been patiently awaiting that one, but... what are the recommendations for an outstanding gamebook or solo module?
