Hi all, I'm looking for random tables on finding and reaching objectives. I made one, but I thought maybe I could share it and see if anyone can help improve it or has better ideas. Here it is:
1. When you pick up a random quest, you are given a magical compass, dog, a guiding light, or whatever to find the objective in a quest (for example, finding a treasure or a missing person.) First, roll the difficulty table below for how many points to accumulate in a dungeon to explore rooms before reaching the destination.
Objective Difficulty:
1-3. 10 Points
4-5. 15 Points
6. 20 Points
2. Following from the above difficulty, roll the table below to accumulate points as you enter each room in a dungeon. (Note: Going back in old areas do not yield anything from the list, meaning they are already explored. But you can go back and find new paths to continue the search.)
1. Nothing (0 pts)
2-3. Lost the trail (-1 pts)
4. Faintly on the right track (1 pts)
5-6. On the right track! (2 pts)
3. When you have reached the objective, resolve the situation in your own way (such as defeating a boss, picking up the treasure or rescuing a hostage.) That's it.
You could alternatively make tables using different dices with more results, but this is the most simple one I've come up with so far.
