Continuing with my Bolt Action game, things have come to a show down inside the Germans half. The Soviets looked like they might break through, but the German tank managed to take down the Soviets armor in a single shot.

Continuing with my Bolt Action game, things have come to a show down inside the Germans half. The Soviets looked like they might break through, but the German tank managed to take down the Soviets armor in a single shot.

The spear tip unit is now pinned down (6 pins total) in the center of the board. In the photos the white die is the number of pins, blue die are morale penalties.

The Soviets did manage to stop a sneaky German unit from skirting the lower edge of the map.

I also put in some place holder Lego buildings as I work out my scaling. I've determined that a brick is about 3.5' tall, and is 3' wide. Now I can start designing some terrain features.

  1. The battle is heating up :-) 6 pin's is pretty brutal, those guys wish they were anywhere else!

  2. Ivan Sorensen no doubt! It was my own fault, I didn't pay enough attention when I placed the Soviets artillery marker the previous turn and clipped their own unit. Then I had no choice but capitalize with the German tank's High Explosives for the extra pins and AOE.

It's been a lot of fun.

  3. Area of effect weapons are nobody's friend :-)

Are you using the 2nd edition rules or the original? I understand that some things changed between the two.

  4. Ivan Sorensen 2nd Edition. This is only my 3rd run with them though, so a lot of time spent looking things up.

  5. Gotcha, I believe that's the version I have from Itunes. Keep meaning to get more use out of it but we haven't been doing WW2 for a little while.

  6. Hi Geoff Osterberg, do you have a reference for building the minis? Or are you using a home grown method?

  7. Andrew Prince I'm using a rough scale that a 1x1 brick is 3.5' tall and 3' wide. A 1x1 plate is 1' (or 1.15') tall. So a mini is representative of 5.5' tall person. Additionally, if you assume the line in the middle of a 1x1 round plate is the eyes, it comes in at exactly 15mm from feet to eyes.
