As a geek dad I do my best to get my kids into gaming. My 5-year old
daughter really likes fighting monsters and taking their stuff. We play
with simple rules and use a d6. We can move 6 squares and attack. We
hit on a 4 or higher. Every hit causes 1 point of damage. We have 5
hitpoints, normal monsters have 1, boss monsters have 3. Monsters also
hit on 4+. The tokens are treasures we have to collect. My daughter set
up the board, picked the monsters and placed them. Great fun.

Very simple. You have a neat playing board there, is that a board from AD&D? I saw some accessory battle boards from that franchise the other day.. or is this something else?
Kent H It is a battlemap from the D&D miniatures skirmish game that is no longer in print. You could buy map packs that included two or three poster sized, double sided maps. They are very well done in my opinion.
Cool. Please include that in your main post next time. Otherwise, it's hard to distinguish from a plain old group game. Thank you.
