Time to make my random character for my new game. I'd like you all to meet Gauvain! Oh, and his manipulative bastard of a sire, Mabon.

  1. I'm really enjoying watching you create your setting and your characters for your solo vampire game, I'm looking forward to seeing your actual play too. You inspire me to make more time for my solo play. I'm also going to check out UNE, The Universal NPC Emulator, I like the look of that.

I recently discovered a Shadowrun Background Generator, I love how it fleshes out the character whilst throwing something random at you that you wouldn't have expected. I think part of the fun is interpreting the results and how they might fit your character and setting. Great work! :)

  2. Thanks! I've done about two sessions! Just need to find time to get the recaps up!

  3. Oh, and I dig that Background Generator. Reminds me of Cyberpunk 2020's! Might want to give that whirl for my next game!

  4. I think it was something to do with Cyberpunk 2020, adapted from that I think? I've never played Cyberpunk 2020, is it similar to Shadowrun? I've seen the cover of an odd book online and it's made me curious.

  5. Cyberpunk 2020 is, basically, Shadowrun without the magic. Or, Shadowrun is CP mixed with D&D.

They had, I think, separate development. They're both obviously inspired by Blade Runner and Neuromancer, but they ended up going slightly different ways. Both are cyberpunk, have an environmentally destroyed earth, AI, cyber ware, a world ruled by mega corps, and desperate mercs living on the edge.

One includes elves and fireballs, the other sticks to hacking and mini-guns.
