If it is of interest to anyone I've tagged some of my posts related to using predictive text tools in solo play. The tag is #SoloPlayWithAlgorithms. If you have any posts on the topic you think might be of interest, you can tag their main body with #SoloPlayWithAlgorithms so others can find these posts more easily.
This sounds interesting. What system do you use for something like this?
ReplyDeleteEd Ortiz I didn't have a chance to reply properly until now.
ReplyDeleteSo far, I've only used two games of the indie/story game persuasion: Trollbabe and Our Last Best Hope. Trollbabe works a bit more like a traditional RPG in that it at least has stats (two, sort of) for your PC that you use to resolve conflicts. . OLBH is very different from traditional RPGs in that there are no stats, but characters have resources. I can talk more about either if you'd like.
For the Trollbabe game, I used a predictive text app called CreativeWriter. For OLBH, I used a tool inspired by it which I rolled up myself, but it is not a predictive text app (more like a simple search, though I don't feel that's a 100% accurate). Chris Stieha and Mike Overbo got to play around with it, so I don't know how they'd characterize it (simple text search tool, or something a bit more).
I should probably write up a post about my short experiences with both tools so far. They were both fun for me, but feel different in play.
