Howard Dawson I feel like Miso RPG has your back there...
Rule #1: Every Coin Has Two Sides
- There are two options. Let's call them A and B.
- Roll two dice. They can be the same size or different sizes (e.g. a d6 for Option A and a d20 for Option B).
- The higher roll wins. If it's close, find a compromise.
(Emphasis mine) So if she rarely agrees with your PC star, then give her the larger die, like a d12 or d20. PC gets a standard d6. If she agrees with the PC more frequently than 'rarely', drop her die to a d8 or d10.
I like to treat d6 as the 'normal' die in this style of play.

A plan so cunning you can put a feather in it and call it Bob
Ok so I was just wondering how you play allies who might not agree on what to do - ever. I will have a female co star joining my adventure - she is sassy intelligent and stubborn - the chance of her agreeing with my Stars choices all the time is highly unlikely - I guess I can just throw a dice and see if she agrees but wondered if there was anything more elegant in the way of a chart, flow diagram or other mechanism to make it more intersting?
And yes, Mike Overbo, now that I see your post, I don't get this reply interface in G+, either!
ReplyDeleteI'm so touched by the love for Miso RPG. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI got to thinking about it further while driving to work today... Maybe the teammate and PC start out with the same dice, both d6, to give an even odds to disagreement. For every "disagreement" she loses to the PC, the teammate has her die increased a step to increase the odds she'll win the next disagreement. So she'll step to a d8, d10, d12, etc. until she's winning most disagreements.
ReplyDeleteThen, as the story progresses, you can decide if she gets more "friendly" to the PC, and allows him to win a bit more on disagreements. Step the die back down as the story dictates the need.
Yeah, it's all just a bit clunky, but it's dice, right? It's all about odds anyway. ;)
