Hello guys! Juts got Strike! RPG and would love to play it solo, however it has simple tactical combat like the one used in 4E. I LOVE tactical combat but have never played it solo. How do you manage to use your GM emulators and other apps to play solo tactical RPGs?

  1. The first thing to take to heart is to treat your enemies as smart as the opposition. Given them multiple sound tactical options, have the other side commit to a plan, and then roll the dice to see which way the enemies move/act.

  2. Hi David Álvarez I am sorry for the late comment. In my opinion, you basically need to define the goal of the opposition and (as Todd pointed out) their plan. If the goal is not obvious, you can use a GM emulator to generate one (basically, what do they want?). Some games (I am thinking of Into the Odd) provide this information for monsters. So if the enemies are "Driven to torment a victim" they will try to capture one of the PCs. If the enemies are "Driven to guard an Arcanum" they will try to push the party in different direction. Once you have a goal, the plan is often quite clear.
When I have doubts about what a specific figure does during an encounter, because there are N good options, I roll a DN :)
