Hey guys

Hey guys,

Based on some of the feedback I got, I decided to write up a quick "primer" for Vampire, since I'll be using it for my ongoing Actual Play series. For those who aren't familiar with Vampire, does this make sense? For those that are familiar, is there anything I'm missing?

  1. This is a great synopsis of the system, I would probably add in maybe 1 to 2 word descriptions for a lot of the common disciplines that get shared between clans or at least those possessed by your PCs, you could update it as you go along.

Celerity: Super Speed, Dominate: Mind Control, Presence: Emotion Control, Obfuscate: Ninja Skills, Protean: Shapeshifting.

Just a suggestion, that way people kind of understand what you're talking about in the most basic of terms, so even if they don't necessarily understand the mechanics, they get a picture of what 'super' power is being activated without having to map out all of them. Then, you can update the single-double word descriptions whenever a new discipline is used.

  2. Yeah, I thought of doing that, but I was just worried it would be too damn long. But it might make things easier...

  3. Thanks for this. Good primer on the mechanics and background. Very useful for someone like myself who has never played the system.

  4. Todd Rokely's solo play Vampire blogs are what sparked my interest in solo gaming to begin with.

Vampire: The Masquerade is a fun Story Telling based system which is great for exploring the personal horror of a single or small group of characters. The later edition rules get a little crunchy, but overall it's a very cool setting, and easy to relate to since it takes place on Earth as we know it with a small twist.
