A trip down memory lane: In 1988 I started roleplaying with the german
fantasy rpg Das Schwarze Auge. Back then I didn't have fancy maps,
pawns or miniatures. And back then I already played solo because I
wanted to play more than anybody had time. My solo gaming back then was
simple: I either played a solo adventure (choose your own style) or I
drew random dungeons and just fought monsters. This is what I am doing
here. Tools used: Microlite20 rules but with 3.x tactical combat rules,
the graph paper is the battlegrid, the monsters and PCs are light
pencil marks that are easily erased and updated. Random dungeon
generation tables from the DungeonBash game, random monster and
treasure tables from the 3.x d&d adventure game boxed set that came
with black and white cardboard tokens. Great fun.

Che Webster DungeonBash is definetly worth buying if you like 3.5 tactical combat hack and slash. The most complete product that comes with treasure, encounter tables, monster stats, quests, tilesets to print and character sheets. It does require the d&d rules for combat and char generation but the free srd will do fine. I like it.
Just for the dungeon tables no, but together with all the other tables yes. You could use any generator and stock the dungeon with the DungeonBash tables. Also it features a scripted AI for solo play.

ReplyDeleteGreat feedback - would you buy just for the dungeon generation tables?
