Long post but the below is a quick write up of my first solo adventure as well as my first play of 4AD.

Long post but the below is a quick write up of my first solo adventure as well as my first play of 4AD.

Ragnar the Bold, Sloth the Quick, Groth the Blind, and Samuel the Yuppy had all just sat down at The Goblin and Parrot for a meal when the bartender, Vaninin came rushing over to the table. “I hear some generic monsters have taken over the dungeon system nearby and have been hoarding gold and jewels. I just thought you guys would like to know”. The companions all looked at each other and then made a mad dash for the door……

Shortly after entering the first room of the dungeon a wandering ghost passes through. Ragnar the Bold was so startled, he lost a life point. The others just point at him and laugh.

Moving east into the next room, Samuel notices a fireball staff sitting all alone and forgotten so he rushes over and grabs it. As the others move into the room, a large chunk of the ceiling falls near the entrance. In an attempt to make up for his earlier cowardice, Ragnar takes the hit directly on his helm and walks away unscathed. This greatly impresses the others…..they had no idea how stupid he was.

Again moving east, the party comes upon a corridor that branches off north and south as well as continuing on to the east. Located in this corridor are three little vampire frogs. Ragnar quickly lifts his leg and stomps on the closest frog. He smiles and says, “What’s red, green, yellow, and goes zero miles an hour”? He then lifts his foot to show the carnage left behind.
Using the confusion, Sloth, belying his name slips over to the second frog and runs his dagger into its belly.
After seeing the horrible, disgusting, and disturbing end his friends had met, the third and final frog hops away as fast as he can go. The group find a paltry four gold lying about in the corridor and continue east.

In the next room the group runs into a group of three Orcs sitting around playing Spades. Ragnar, in his typical fashion rushes into the room and removes the first Orc’s head from its body.
Not to be outdone, Groth takes a swing at the second Orc but misses by less than an inch…..like about one dice pip’s width of an inch.
Seeing his brother in trouble, Sloth slinks up to the second Orc and shoves his dagger into the creature’s heart.
Samuel, having yet to prove himself even a little useful, brings his mace down on the head of the third Orc thus ending the ordeal.
The party finds a gold ring on one of the Orcs.

After the killing ends, Samuel notices the room is a dead end (no pun intended) so they all turn to head back into the multi-exit corridor.

Once back at the corridor, the group heads north to find a room with an ornate wooden box sitting upon a pedestal. Sloth, being the sly one he is, attempts to open the box. To everyone’s surprise, including the omnipresent being watching this unfold, he succeeds on his first attempt. Inside he finds a tiara encrusted with rubies.

Two exits leave this room, one to the east and one to the west. Having hit one dead end to the east already, they head west.

Inside the next room a couple of hobgoblins are having an argument over the ability of a Swallow to carry a coconut. Ragnar tenses, prepared to rush the foul creatures but Groth stops him. Groth had decided he wanted the first kill this time and he also wanted to make up for his earlier miss. He runs into the room makes a huge windup and swings his club for the first hobgoblin……and misses. He misses so badly that he spins around in several complete circles then falls to the ground.
Ragnar was very upset that Groth had stopped him so he charges into the room and runs his sword through the hobgoblin Groth had so badly missed.
Sloth tiptoes into the room behind Ragnar and skewers the eye of the second and final enemy.

For what seemed like hours, the group made their way through various parts of the dungeon, running into mostly harmless monsters here and there until they came upon a door with a sign that read “Shhhh….sleeping dragon. If you wake him, you take him.” Unfortunately for everyone behind him, Groth can't read so he opened the door and entered the room. Thus ends the adventure.
