CRGE users!
What are your experiences with "unexpectedly" results? I haven't rolled one yet myself, but I only use the loom of fate, not the threads or scene creation stuff. A lot of the unexpectedly results seem to refer back to threads.
How have people gone interpreting the unexpectedly prompts in play? Have they worked well on their own, or have you supplemented them with another tool/oracle? Or has anyone just skipped them altogether?

ReplyDeleteI tried CRGE once but it's too cinematic for my tastes. I like the idea of the Unexpectedly results, just not the implementation. Perhaps if I definded them differently.
ReplyDeleteI rolled an Unexpectedly...Montage result which doesn't work with my play style at all. I rolled a an Unexpectedly...Limelit result which made me end the scene quickly as I don't like too much good stuff happening to my PCs (especially in Lamentations of the Flame Princess!).
Gerard Nerval yeah when I first read over the unexpectedly results, they didn't grab me. It hasn't yet come up in play though, so who knows? It may click perfectly.
ReplyDeleteIt would be simple enough to substitute something else in there, though. Story cubes or whatnot. Something to throw things in a new direction.
