When I found myself interested once again in RPGs, I had a specific thing I really wanted to try: sci-fi. And one of the first things I ran across as I started to dabble in the indie and small-house brands was Rocket Age. I picked it up and read through the core book a few times, with wonderful pulp adventures lurking in the back of my brain. However, I never did entice any of my friends to journey with me on this one.
So has anyone attempted to solo-play a Vortex-driven game like Rocket Age, or Doctor Who: Adventures in Time and Space? Vortex seems to be used in very pulp-heavy games, which seems like it might be fun to do solo... Wondering which GM-less engines might be a good match, as well.
Joe E Cosmic Patrol (or another retro pupl sci-fi) has been on the list of things I'd like to do for some time. :)
ReplyDeleteIs there anything about Rocket Age that would be problematic to solo? I mean, as I understand it, there's System, GM Emulator, NPC Emulator, and maybe some tables for atmosphere.
ReplyDeleteIs there something about Rocket Age that's trickier than that?
Never played it solo, but Vortex is one of the go-to systems in my group. I think it would do fine solo
