Has anyone tried ’Maze of the Blue Medusa’ solo? The design of the book is really intriguing, and it doesn’t seem to be tied heavily to a particular system.

  1. I'd be interested in reading someone's play journel of this adventure.

  2. I haven't heard much in terms of play reports beyond that it's tough for a DM to keep track of all the factions during group play.

  3. I have this. It's a wonderful dungeon. My sense is that it might be hard to use in solo play. There are several complex relationships between the major figures in the dungeon, including even some of the wandering monsters, that affect how they're played and how they respond to player actions. There's an assumption that the GM has read the whole book and will be familiar with these relationships when any one of the figures is encountered.

Therefore it wouldn't work well to move from room to room, reading each description as your characters first encounter the place. You could read the whole thing and then change hats between player and GM as you go, but you would lose the elements of surprise and the unknown.
