For anyone that plays Nathan Russell's Freeform Universal, I'm working on code to support that in randm solo v0.9.5. From a code standpoint, it's moderately complex, mostly because of spending FU after seeing the results and hoping for a better result, but still entirely do-able. Before I start coding, I need to ask a few questions on how you use it:
what are the common result scenarios that you would use to spend a FU point to reroll a dice after the fact?
What's the max number of dice one would roll on a bonus or penalty roll? 4d6? 5d6? (5d6 is my guess, for spending FU prior)
I have guesses on spending FU to re-roll after the fact and which die I would choose to re-roll:
if we rolled penalty dice, and got a doubles/triples/quadruples result, re-roll any die IN that doubles/triples/quadruples set.
if we rolled bonus dice, and got a doubles/triples/quadruples result, re-roll any die NOT IN that doubles/triples/quadruples set.
If we don't have a doubles/etc situation, the die that we're likely to reroll is the lowest odd die, which should be the worst die in the set.
Similarly I'm adding support for Kenny Norris's Fate Solo for the next version. I believe the rules are pretty straightforward and it should be very easy to add. The only thing I need to clarify is Surprise Factor.
If yes/no results include - or +, roll 4dF for surprise and check the threshold. If yes/no results include double minus or double plus, roll 8dF for surprise and check the threshold. I assume this includes the middling yes minus minus and no plus plus results, do I have that right?
Sorry, I giggle whenever I see "FU". :-)
