Inspired by Todd Mauldin and his podcast, I just finished my own attempt at playing Barbarian Prince. The game is a lot of fun (if somewhat harsh and random), and I'll probably make another attempt before too long. Check out the AP to see the fate of Barbarian Prince Cal Arath and his quest to raise an army to retake his throne. (Hint: it usually doesn't end well for him.)

  2. One of my greatest games, Cal ended up married, but he and his true love starved to death in the desert fleeing from some enemy or other.

  3. OMG Karl, so awesome! Where'd you get that map? Did you make it? That was an amazing AP. Don't want to spoiler this for others so I'll just say... what a brutal journey. Wish things had worked out with the Amazons though. I always wanted an army of Amazons...

  5. Todd Mauldin The map is from a great quality rework pack by Todd Sanders (dumarest123 on BoardGameGeek). You can find the game books and some really nice play aids on the BoardGameGeek page for Barbarian Prince. Look for the uploads by dumarest123 and download in your preferred size and format. I especially like the travel table sheets.

  6. Also -- there's an Android game that's "inspired" by BP: Road of Kings. Just installed it again. Forgot how much I loved this one, though I think it's more repetitive. Still, it scratches the itch.
