I want to do a funnel running 15 characters at once but it's hard. Trying to make all those people and sort of imagining some plotline.
So even though the funnel I've selected is faux medieval Europe, I've decided to put it on an alien planet with retro future, seventies sci fi colonists instead of filthy peasants.
But that didn't make it much easier. I was looking at costumes and hairstyles and I'll need a list of names and personalities... Anyone else find solutions?
I could use Maze Rats and churn out a horde of characters and there is a purple sorcerer tumbler.
Thinking about using the Deck of tales when it arrives. Just intuit character descriptions and personalities that way.
ReplyDeleteOh hey.right on! They were at home waiting for me
ReplyDeleteIn russia we herd convicts or wild goats into dungeon till traps all gone and pits filled
ReplyDeleteI just used purple sorcerer and fantasy name generators. Didn't worry about any details until after the funnel, considering most of them die pretty quick
ReplyDeleteCan someone break down for me this usage of "funnel"? Is it particular to some system?
ReplyDeleteThe Funnel was introduced by Dungeon Crawl Classics. The name evokes a wide entrance and a narrow exit.
ReplyDeleteThis playstyle asks players to make three or four level zero characters. Peasants generally.
Lumberjacks, trench diggers, ratcatchers, goat herders, tailors, butchers, potato farmers
You don't have a class but if you roll well, you might get some bonuses.
The funnel style dungeon is meant to be deadly, especially for puny zeroes. Those lucky survivors will have endured an adventure and will be dearer to the player for having proven themselves worthy.

ReplyDeleteLino to the rescue! The Space NPCs are perfect.
ReplyDeletegotcha. So it's a "throw PCs at spikey wall and see what sticks, but didn't get impaled" situation. Thanks!
ReplyDeletei have petty undead and vermin tables just for this. Funnel team vs farm animals is hillarious
