Hello! I am experienced in playing pen&paper RPGs but I am new to playing them solo. I want to give this a try. Not sure which system will be best for playing solo: Basic Fantasy, D&D 5e, Pathfinder. I also thought about The One Ring RPG , Beyond the Wall and Symbaroum.
What is your opinion on these games for solo roleplaying?
Shane Ellswood “Oracle” is a generic term for a tool like the GM Emulator (most famously, Mythic). It can be a variety of things—the Emulator, a deck of cards, story cubes, whatever you use to help drive your game.
ReplyDeleteironsworn is free and made for solo rpg.. but pbta system like dungeon world and an oracle system seems work well
ReplyDeleteStarting off, don't write everything down. It can REALLY slow down play. If you want a record of your game, try audio recording.
ReplyDeleteIf you are going to have 2 or more PCs, consider telling the story in 3rd person. You might be more willing to take risks and not change the die when a bad roll comes up if you are "managing" the party rather than "being" a character.
If you like dark fantasy, take a look at Blades in the Dark. (GM light, not GM-less)
