So, I picked up The One Ring RPG off Bundle of Holding the other day on a bit of a whim, thinking it could be super cool. After a few days of reading it, I still think it could be cool, but I'm wondering if it's worth all the layers of the system.
Does anyone have experience playing TOR solo?
Mark Brady Sounds so cool! :)
ReplyDeleteMark Brady The mechanics are really interconnected. I consider myself to be fairly adept at using complex systems, but, man, in reading through these rules there were a few times I wished I had one of those corkboards covered with a spiderweb of pins and yarn to really get a sense of how everything came together.
ReplyDeleteUnless I get a healthy burst of courage, I'll probably look harder at Ironsworn...or just make a LoTR hack using Genesys.
Thanks for everyone's feedback!
Ryan B I laughed out loud at your comment. Good luck with whatever system you go with. It also might be worth looking at Adventures In Middle Earth. It's a D&D 5e expansion based of TOR by the same authors. 5e is a fairly ok solo system so might be a starting point for your hacking. Looking forward to hearing your adventures whatever you go with.
