I found where it is, I'm not sure about 1E, which I think is what you use.
In Revised it's on page 217: Mortals may soak bashing damage with their Stamina, while Vampires may also soak bashing damage with their Stamina (+ Fortitude if they have it). However, any bashing damage applied to a Vampire after the soak roll is halved (rounded down) -- the Kindred's corpselike bodies simply don't bruise and break like the kine's.
Yeah, that's a Revised/V20 rule. I understand what they were going for, but it's one the rules I dislike. In 2nd Ed (the one I started with), PC's used chains, fists, knives, guns, or whatever they could get their hands on. Once revised came out, the only weapons anyone cared about were swords and axes, which just kind of bored me. Even guns stopped being used, other than to intimidate mortals, since mortals took bashing damage for bullets.
So, I'm keeping the OG "lethal and nasty as hell" combat.
Ouch! Hanson plays hard ball. :-)
ReplyDeleteTalking her way out of things has not been working for her. At least she didn't shoot out her kneecaps.
ReplyDeleteNice to see Hanson come out on top for a change.
ReplyDeleteQuick question: Don't Vamps take half damage from bashing sources?

Might as well ask, does something wooden like a baton mitigate that?
ReplyDeleteWood, unless its in stake form, doesn't affect vamps any differently than anything else.
ReplyDeleteThough I've always seen Hanson's as more of a steel one, anyways.

Probably did it to keep their vamps from being taken down too easily by a mortal with a bat or pipe or something.
ReplyDeleteI'm cool with whatever, it was just bugging me so I hunted it down because I've only played Revised.
