I've been writing a series of blog posts about the pros and cons of selling RPG stuff on DTRPG vs. Itch.io, and this morning I came across this gem, Hall of the Dwarven King while comparing some things. It's like a rules-light, print&play version of Dwarf Fortress. You roll 7 dice each turn, and the results are what types of dwarfs you have at your disposal to do shit. The end goal is to have a lot of points. It took me a few games to get into the swing of it, but I managed to get a high score of 129 points.

Protips:
Take heavy advantage of discarding 1 dwarf and rerolling others for the ones you need.

Make liberal use of the mercenary dwarves.

Remember to resolved your dice in order; you can earn points on fighting dwarves and drunk dwarves before you need a cooking dwarf to continue.

People who I think will like this: Sophia Brandt, Sam Mameli, Sean Poppe, and other people who like things that don't suck.

  5. It's worth keeping an eye on the solitaire print & play contests over on boardgamegeek. Some really interesting little games come out of that.

Link to current one is here boardgamegeek.com - 2017 Solitaire Print and Play Contest | and there are links in that thread to previous years.
