We Are Solo Gamers
I love hearing about everyone’s experience with various modes of solo play, systems, and settings. It keeps the creative gears whirring. But I wonder more about the mundane aspects of solo gaming - who are we and how we actually game.
To start, I’m curious about how frequently you solo game. I realize that there are a lot of factors behind such a simple question, but here it is:
Think about 2017 - how often did you solo game? Whether it was 15mins or 4hrs at a stretch, it needs to be long enough for you to call it a “session”
Such a fabulous response. Thanks to everyone who voted and especially those who commented. We’re “lone” but not alone!
ReplyDeleteInteresting to note that we’re split almost 50/50, gaming monthly or more vs. less than monthly.
I have a couple of other polls in mind, teasing out who we are instead of what we play. This community has done wonders for my solo playing and I hope we can continue to build it and support each other, whether we’re playing Ameritrash, B/X, or story cubes.
37 year old teacher. Anti gaming wife (seriously, not even board games). No time to keep up face to face gaming commitments, so solo it is. I fit in a scene in where I can around work
ReplyDelete40+ software developer. My players haven't been reliable & I mostly avoid 5e... as such, probably a few times a week I end up playing things solo, but usually CRPG as I haven't found a solo system that really really clicks for me ( other than the T&T mobile app ... but I'm just about ot run out of free hearts there ... ). Would love to play more. That would be the only "solo" play I have. Otherwise ( if things run right ) I run a group playing all sorts of different systems at least once per week, am a player for D&D AL ( 5e ) at my FLGS once per week, and am trying to get a second personal group started ( to hopefully replace the AL play ).
