My Wargame/RPG ValorAndVictory/Ironsworn mashup is moving forward. Writing things down takes a lot of time (more than playing) but I am glad I sketched some of the NPCs. The Platoon is ready to leave Gela and move North. The fights in Gela have been hard, in particular for Pluto (who is wounded and currently hospitalised) and Eddy (who is completely dispirited). Tony is in good shape, but fulfilling his vow of killing Tenente Murru has been far from painless.

  1. I'm not much of a wargamer, but someday I want to try a game like this. Possibly playing minor characters at the siege of Troy.

  2. Gerard Nerval I am ashamed to say I never read Homer. But similarly, I knew very little of WW2 in Southern Italy and gaming is also a good way to read books and learn new things. In a siege of Troy game, I guess it could be interesting to follow characters in both sides. I have no idea of a wargame designed for that specific setting, but I am sure there must be several rulesets that could be used... also something like Song of Blades and Heroes, why not? :)

  3. evandro novel I also use gaming as a way to learn about history.

I think I have seena handful of ancient world wargames that could work. The trick would be deciding whether to do a proper bronze age historical setting or a more mythic one, in which case I could use any set of rules that covered iron age Greeks as the Trojans would be equipped and organised in the same way.
