Hello!

Hello!

Here is my report on my first game of #Untold:Adventure Awaits. After reading about it here in the group, I ordered it, but the mail is taking too much time for my taste (I hope it arrives safely, standard delivery for packages here does not have the best delivery guys (^_^;; ), so I downloaded and printed the PnP version to get a chance to get started.
Less than an hour is a bit optimistic if you write things down even in a solo session (although I can't give an accurate account of the time it took as the session was spread across a few sittings). I found the structure of the game to make it a bit difficult to get the flavour I actually wanted (kids' tv show, harmless).
For dice, I randomly picked dice, having the first three from the base set, the second three from the remaining base set, voyages and actions, and the final three from the remainder of those three plus fantasia to ensure that there are enough non-specific dice in play.

Yours,
Deathworks
P.S.: Somehow, I couldn't place the pictures inside the post?

>>Answer: crab icon => The big foot tries to rip off the fairy's wings.

As Glitter Eyes was walking through Silver Leaf woods carrying a letter for Malcom the hedgehog merchant at Magic Stone village, she heard screaming.
"Let me go! Let go of me!" The voice was high-pitched, and seemed to come from further down the path. As the messenger hastened along the path, a deeper voice replied.
"I not let go."
"Ouch. That hurts! Stop it!"
Coming around the final corner, Glitter Eyes saw a big foot with brown fur and a broad face who held a fairy in a flower dress in his hands, pulling at her butterfly wings.

>>Action 1/4: I try to sneak up on the big foot using my rogue skills.
>>Reaction card: green, but, blushing smiley

The cat messenger hid behind a tree. Peaking around it, she made sure that the big foot hadn't noticed her.
Without any further delay, Glitter Eyes slipped from cover to cover using her skills as a rogue to stealthily get behind the big foot's back. The brute was still oblivious about her presence, but the fairy saw her.
Her would-be saviour quickly put her finger in front of her mouth, indicating the fairy to keep quiet and then winked at her. In respeonse, the fairy blushed.

>>Action 2/4: I try to tickle the big foot so he releases the fairy.
>>Reaction card: red, and weeping face

Glitter eyes moved quickly towards the big foot and started tickling him. She figured he would then release the fairy, but the big foot didn't flinch. Instead, he turned around grabbing Glitter Eyes' right arm and squeezing it so hard she cried out in pain.

>>Action 3/4: I try to bite the big foot to make him release us.
>>Reaction card: green, but, worried smiley

Changing her strategy, the messenger bit the big foot in his arm.
Now it was the big foot's turn to cry out in pain, and he released our heroine, but still held the fairy in his grip. The fairy in turn look with increasing worry at Glitter Eyes.

>>Question 3/4: What does the big foot do next?
>>Answer: thief running with treasure icon => The big foot makes his get-away.

As the cat took a step back, the big foot saw his chance and ran off into the woods taking the fairy with him.

>>Action 4/4: I try to follow him by using my quickness.
>>Reaction card: red, and, anger

Immediately, Glitter Eyes ran after them. She was confident that the lumbering beast would be no match for her nimble feet.
But then she tripped over a root and fell. Pain shot up her right ankle. Looking down, she saw that it was not obviously broken. She got up, but her ankle gave way under her and she fell back on the ground.
Being more careful not to put any weight on her injured leg, the messenger finally stood up. Looking around, she couldn't see any trace of the other two. And the woods har turned quiet again giving her no hint where to search.
Biting her teeth, she punched a nearby tree in anger.

>>Intrigue Card: This threat (big foot) has an evil master.
>>evil master: scales icon => Malcom the merchant

>>Answer: book icon + thief running with treasure icon => Because, according to an ancient book, fairy dust would give him a chance to snatch a treasure.

>>Question 2/3: What had he done with the captured fairy?
>>Answer: magic wand icon + sleeping icon => Using a spell from the book, he has put her to sleep.

>>Question 3/3: Why did the big foot help him?
>>Answer: necklace icon + house icon => Malcom had supported the big foot's family and had been something like a surrogate father to them.

Although her ankle slowed her down a bit, Glitter Eyes was able to make good progress and soon reached Magic Stone village at the other side of the woods.
She knew Malcom's Trading Post quite well, having often delivered messages to and from it, so she decided to quickly finish her assignment before seeing a doctor about her ankle.
The trading post was a two-story building with living quarters for Malcom on the upper floor , the shop proper in the front of the ground floor and storage rooms in the back. As usual, the front door was open, allowing the messenger to enter.
Although the lamp in the store was lit giving enough light to show the shelves with all the various things people needed for everyday life, Malcom was not there. The cat looked around the shop a bit and then moved towards the back of the store where a single door led to a corridor with stairs to the upper floor and doors to the storage rooms.
Passing through the door, she heard muffled voices. As curiosity got the better of her, she sneaked to the door the voices came from. Opening it slightly, she listened.
"I put a spell on her, she will sleep." Glitter Eyes recognized Malcom's voice. She never knew he was a magician.
"A spell? Uncle Malcom know magic?" Our heroine stiffened as she recognized the voice of the big foot she had met in the woords.
"It's all in the tome I found. The Well of Wisdom ... You know, the old book that told me about Lowheart's treasure."
"The book about fairy dust?"
"Yes, yes. Fairy dust is the key to Lockheart's treasure. That's why I wanted you to bring me some."
"I make big effort. I bring fairy."
"Yes. But I didn't tell you to get caught by that messenger cat!"
"I am sorry, uncle Malcom."
"Show me your arm, I will clean your wound."
"Uncle Malcom is always kind to me and my brothers. Without uncle Malcom we have no home. I want help uncle Malcom."
"Yes, yes. But now keep still as I treat your injury. That cursed cat!"

>>Confrontation Card: At this location this threat pursues you.
>>this location: backpack icon => Forest Friends Inn
>>this threat: bee icon => Homes, the bee

>>Question 1/2: What is Homes' mission?
>>Answer: clock icon + distant tower icon => Finding ways to delay Glitter Eyes so Malcom can get the treasure.

>>Action 1/4: I want to get my ankle treated by talking to doctor Tora.
>>Reaction card: red, but, helpless face

Quickly leaving the Trading Post, Glitter Eyes figured she needed to think about what to do next. But before heading for Forest Friends Inn, her usual abode when staying at Magic Stone village, she headed for Dr. Tora's practice. Dr. Tora was a great physician and Glitter Eyes had received good treatment by her in the past.
However, when she reached the healer's house, she found the door locked. The cat was at a loss as what to do. Fortunately, the ankle didn't hurt that much by now, so it was probably not broken, but she would have loved to get some treatment anyways.
"Ah! If it ain't Glitter Eyes! Long time no see!" Glitter Eyes was drawn out of her thought by a familiar voice. It was Erica the duck, her long-time friend.
"It is great to see you. In fact, your timing is actually perfect. I can use the help of a friend."
"Sure thing. Whatsup?"
"Let's head for the Forest Friends. We can talk there."
The two friends headed over to the inn where Glitter Eyes informed her friend about what she had observed today.
As they were talking, the messenger got the impression that they were being watched.

>>Action 2/4: I try to find whoever is watching by using my rogue skills.
>>Reaction card: green, and, smirking smiley

"What do you think we ought to do now?" She asked as she looked around the room pretending to do so casually.
"Why don't we tell the constable about this? Let the officials deal with it." Erica responded. Glitter Eyes grinned wickedly. She had noticed a yellow-black spot on the wall. It was Homes, the bee. Homes often hung around with Malcom, they were good friends.
And he had obviously not noticed yet that Glitter Eyes had found out about him.

>>Action 3/4: I try catch Homes by grabbing him.
>>Reaction card: red, and, troubled/surprised smiley

Seeing her chance, Glitter Eyes suddenly lurched forwards, trying to catch the bee with her bare hands. But as her fingers hit the wall, Homes was no longer there. Instead, he flew straight into Glitter Eyes' face. The messenger panicked and fell back on her back.

>>Question 2/2: What does Homes do now?
>>Answer: speech bubble icon => He talks.

"Oh, you thought you had caught me? What do you want from me?" Homes flew into the middle of the room and addressed the two friends.
"You've been spying on us," Erica openly accused him.
"Why would I do that?"

>>Action 4/4: I try to get Homes to give away information about his mission by flattering him.
>>Reaction card: red, and, angry smiley

"I am sure that Malcom asked you for help. He knows how reliable you are."
Homes frowned at her words.
"I don't know what you are trying to achieve by flattering me, but I will have none of this. Have a nice day!"
Seemingly annoyed, Homes flew away.

>>Revelation Card: Homes has been targetting this place all along.
>>this place: tree icon recycled => Silver Leaf woods

>>Question 1/1: What is Homes planning?
>>Answer: mirror icon + palace/city icon => Homes wants to be praised by the inhabitants of Silver Leaf woods.

"This was rather odd," Glitter Eyes surmised.
"What d'you make of it?"
"I don't know. I have a hunch that there is more to that bee than meets the eye."
"We better follow'im then, right?"
"What are we waiting for?"
Quickly, the friends rushed out of the inn.
In the street, Homes was nowehere to be seen, but Summer Thought, the flower vendor, had seen him flying down the street.
Just as they thought they wouldn't find him, Erica and Glitter Eyes heard his voice. Peeking around the corner, they saw Homes talking to himself.
"What am I to do? Malcom is taking too much time. If that cat intervenes now, all will be for naught.
My plan was perfect. Using Malcom's greed, I would have gotten Lowheart's treasure and made all inhabitants in the forest appreciate me. I would no longer be a spot in the landscape easily overlooked. No more accidently sitting on me. And now? Now everything is at risk."

>>Showdown Card: At this place, this threat and this threat have captured you all.
>>this place: tree icon recycled => Silver Leaf woods, this threat A: scales icon recycled => Malcom, this threat B: bee icon recycled => Homes

"It can't be helped. We need to push forward. I better go to Grandfather Oak and try my luck there," Homes continued before flying away.
Erica and Glitter Eyes looked at each other.
"Whatcha think?" Erica asked.
"Let's go there and investigate."

The friends got ready and went into the woods. Grandfather Oak was the oldest and biggest oak in the woods. Everyone knew about it.
As they reached the oak, the ground beneath them suddenly moved and they were sent flying into the air. Before they realized what had happened, they were caught in a net that was hanging from a tree branch.
"That was too easy, don't you agree, Malcom?" Out of the tree tops, Homes appeared.
"I am impressed by your skill, Homes." Malcom came out from the undergrowth.
"See? Now they won't get in our way, just as I predicted."

>>Action 1/6: I try to get the net to drop to the ground by swinging back and forth.
>>Reaction card: red, but, smiley with one raised eye brow

As the hedgehog and his ally were about to depart, the messenger began swinging back and forth. Realizing what her friend was trying to do, the duck joined in. But no matter how much they moved, there was no hint of anything giving way or moving.
Still, this made Malcom stop.
"What are you up to? Do you think you can escape that way?"

>>Action 2/6: I try to convince Malcom to give up by appealing to his doubts.
>>Reaction card: green, but, surprised smiley

"We will get out. And then we will tell the constable about your plans and how you kidnapped the fairy. You will be in big trouble."
"But, ... but ..." Malcom was seemingly getting more and more nervous.
"If you let us go, however, we can tell them that you have changed your mind. I am sure they will appreciate it."
"Oh, ... Okay."
Malcom moved to the tree and began untying the knot that kept the net in place. But before he was finished, Homes returned and flew up to his partner.
"What are you doing?"
"I ... I think we should let them go," Malcom obviously didn't know what to say.
"Have they been befuddling you?"

>>Action 3/6: I try to convince Homes to give up by appealing to his doubts/insecurity.
>>Reaction card: red, unhappy smiley

"Not befuddling him," Glitter Eyes interjected. "We just told him the truth."
"The truth?"
"The truth that your plans will fail and you will get into trouble."
"Nonsense. As long as you are caught in this net, there is no one who even knows about the treasure and could stop us."
"Do you really think the treasure has been waiting for you all these years without anyone finding it? Why should you be the first to figure it out? Isn't it likely that it has already been found - if it ever existed in the first place?"
"I am not falling for this. I know I am the one who will find it and gain happiness!"
"Homes?" Malcom looked confusedly at his ally.
"Don't let them confuse you, Malcom. We are that close to finding the treasure."
Reluctantly, Malcom turned to follow the bee who was heading for the woods again.

>>Action 4/6: I try to untie the knot by using my rogue skills and my tail.
>>Reaction card: green, happy smiley

The messenger decided to make her move. Using her tail, she was able to fully untie the knot which had been somewhat loosened by Malcom's efforts. With a loud clutter and lots of rustling, Erica and Glitter Eyes fell onto the ground. Quickly, they escaped from the net before Malcom or Homes could react.

>>Action 5/6: I try to catch Homes by grabbing him.
>>Reaction card: green, and, laughing smiley

In a swift motion, the cat jumped forward and grabbed Homes.
"What!? Stop ... ha, ha, ha." Homes' protest turned into laughter as Glitter Eyes' fingers were accidentally tickling him.

>>Action 6/6: I try to convince Homes that it wouldn't work out by reasoning with him.
>>Reaction card: green, but, sweating smiley

"Listen to me, Homes. Your treasure hunt is meaningless."
"Meaningless?" Homes, who had recovered from his laughing, was confused.
"Even if there was a treasure, it would not grant you any genuine respect. Respect is something you need to earn with your behaviour."
"And what should I do so that people don't overlook me?"
Glitter Eyes was a bit set back by this direct question and got nervous as she was looking for an answer. Then Erica chimed in.
"How 'bout starting by apologizing to the fairy your friends 've caught?"
The messenger nodded.
"Instead of one big thing, do small things. one by one, and more and more people will remember you and care about you."
"Maybe you are right. I will give it a try. Malcom, will you help me?"
"Of course. Aren't we buddies?"
"But first I want to apologize to you, Glitter Eyes and Erica, for causing you all this trouble."
"Apology accepted."
And the four of them left the woods for the village.
