I like the flow. Someone watching me would see me roll dice four times, write a note, doodle a minute, roll more dice, check the book, roll, doodle...
But it was able to move as fast as I wanted.
I want to add elements of roleplaying and have more immersive detailed environments. I also have Ruins of the Undercity, Mad Monks of Kwantoom, and Castle Gargantua.
Kabukis books expect you to make Labyrinth Lord characters but that means they can cast spells from their entire spell book which is a lot more options and complexity.
That's the trade-off. Simplicity and complexity.

Making a Labyrinth Lord character isn't so taxing but buying equipment and calculating experience and casting level... Makes me want to add complexity gradually from 4aDhttps://lh3.googleusercontent.com/EWqdn4I41NjbqWk3KA368yO3nrrTnx_DO5JDwqCDWnx79xCv5FrscG3bpSK8cVIQ6kZDK4lUEkE
ReplyDeleteHuh. Four Against the Abyss is not on RPGnow.com, which is why I didn't know about it. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteNo you can buy the paperback from Amazon or you can buy the PDF directly from Mr. Sfiligoi from the Ganesha Games website.
ReplyDeleteChad Robb The paperback is on LuLu too.
ReplyDeleteI dig the doodles and the crosshatching on the dungeon maps.
ReplyDeleteYou should see my other doodles. I'm a doodlydude.
ReplyDeleteKabuki Kaiser I'd love to run a simpler version of your other games.
ReplyDeleteWill send you redbric draft draft you might have suggestions
ReplyDeleteAnother similar thing. It is free and possibly more robust, folks say.

boardgamegeek.com - D100 Dungeon
Michael Bacon Do you know anything about that one?
ReplyDeleteNot really. I plan to try it though.
ReplyDeleteClick on the files tab to find the pdf.
ReplyDeleteEric R Exactly. Nice hatching and sketch. Brings depth and life to the session, which I lacked a bit when trying out the rules. Nice job.
ReplyDeleteI just flipped through D100 Dungeon and it's less intuitive than 4aD. It's got some interesting illustrations, some of which don't match the tone.
ReplyDeleteIt's as vanilla as Four. But it does have a lot of moving parts.
Chris Tamm ideally, I'd be in a dungeon that feels like Psychon.
ReplyDeleteYou're in a room with dinosaur eggs guarded by a robot caveman. If you defeat him, you can use his power core to activate the altar in a nearby room.
The screen comes to life. It's a forgotten god, grateful for the signal boost. He tells you where a hibernation pod is with a beautiful princess but she begs you to help her find the rest of her family and their pods, so you hire a Morlock guide who wants to eat your Eldren Cleric.
sounds awesome
ReplyDeletemaybe i could do some one sheet psychon dungeons
Chris, have you read four Against Darkness?
ReplyDeleteIf you like drawing dungeons, or drawn dungeons, I have a dungeon drawing group.
ReplyDeleteChad Robb was doing drawings but mostly digital now
ReplyDeletenot playing enough to make more
ReplyDeleteFor some reason, many of the 4AD supplements only appear on WarGameVault and not DTRPG/RPGNow, so be sure to look there. (There is a distinction in the publishing interface between the sites, so publishers must choose to display prodicts both places if appropriate)
ReplyDeletewargamevault.com - Wargame Vault - Ganesha Games - The largest wargame download store
Do any of the supplements increase agency/strategy?
ReplyDeleteI'd not heard of Warfame Vault. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI've only read Against the Abyss which includes new spells, new abilities, and new problems. Agency is still mostly deciding which direction to make the dungeon grow in but you can develop characters into better fighters, negotiators, better at finding secret doors, better at not going mad.
ReplyDeleteSo there is that.
That wizard looks like a younger version of Tim (the Wizard from MPATHG)
