I'm just going to make a silly comment because I feel like it :)

I'm just going to make a silly comment because I feel like it :)

As someone who makes role playing game books, one thing I love is to make play examples for the books. However, this is a double edged sword for me. I find myself playtesting my book, getting into the example I'm making, then running with it and forgetting I'm making content for the book and not playing a game for myself lol

I've had people tell me that they enjoy the examples in my books, and think of it as something of a "thing" that I have so many crammed in there. Little do they know that part of that is because I get carried away.

Part of the reason I thought to write this post is because I'm embroiled in a play "example" right now that I should really put an end to and write some actual rule mechanic copy lol

Solo role-playing is just too damn fun, and that's a good thing :)

  1. I would be grateful for Mythic v2 "replays," especially considering some of the examples like Risus Monkey's that initially inspired my Mythic play are starting to disappear from the web.
At times I feel I'm trying too hard to squeeze context or playable scenarios out of the system, especially as I get used to the new ideas in Variations 2 (which has already reinvigorated my solo gaming, love it!) Your examples would inspire and relax my thinking process. Please let us know when you post one!

  2. when I want to write rules then I play the game for "playtesting", when I play a game then I start to write new rules :)

  3. Examples are fantastic, especially when it comes to this hobby. Back when I first found Mythic your examples went a long way towards teaching me how to start playing. Back then I'm not sure if there was much else as far as examples go of solitary role playing on the internet. You're examples in the location crafter were very insightful too.
