Anyone familiar with these solitaire card games?

A few years ago, inspired by the games of my youth, I created a fast-playing fantasy adventure game using an ordinary deck of playing cards. That game, Dungeon Solitaire: Tomb of Four Kings is still available for free on my website. It wasn't long before I teamed up with artist Josephe Vandel to create an expanded tarot version of the game called Labyrinth of Souls. And that game has since inspired a series of novels published by ShadowSpinners Press!
I always had in mind the possibility of creating an expansion for Labyrinth of Souls, with new rules and a new deck of cards. And as this project developed, I saw the opportunity to create a new stand-alone Dungeon Solitaire game called Devil's Playground. along the way, I was inspired to design a whole new game called Dungeon War, a two-player wargame with it's roots in the Dungeon Solitaire cards and world. Finally, the new cards have a system of symbolic interpretation similar to what one finds in the tarot.
The Devil's Playground has ultimately become a collected treasure hoard of new and expanded games. You can delve into the deepest corner of the darkest dungeon with the Devil's Playground game, or use the cards and rulebook to expand your Labyrinth of Souls games, experiencing new challenges and unexpected surprises with every delve. You can face off with opponents in a fast, easy to learn wargame that evokes an epic scale, or create spreads for reading and interpretation.
Once again, I want to thank Josephe Vandel for this wonderful collaboration, and for creating all the incredible artwork for the game. The images are off-the-chart imaginative, lending a visual and symbolic depth that is perfectly matched to my thematic ideas.

I often play the "Dungeon Solitaire: tomb of Four Kings", it is a very funny and easy-to-learn game. It depends almost everything on luck, but is very creative, and a complete session lasts about 5 minutes! I don't know the advancements they did related to the game, but taking the very good things of the original idea, it sounds really nice!
ReplyDeleteBought Labyrinth of Souls via Amazon, it is a cool solitaire game. The biggest selling point: It plays really fast and the rules are easily memorized. So all you need is a small tarot deck and a table...
ReplyDeleteThanks, guys. I went in for the deluxe decks at $30. I don't currently have any tarot cards, and even if I don't like the game, the cards look neat and would be useful for solo play on their own!
