Hmm. Methinks a solo game with a cat randomizer might be a good idea. Thinking out loud...
Pet a cat within reach. Ask a question to the cat out loud as you do so. Interpret the results...
Meows contentedly = yes, and... Rolls over for a belly scratch = yes... Meows insistently = yes, but... Gives loving slow blink = no, but... Whips tail in irritation = no... Bites, turns tail and runs, coughs up a hairball, looses interest, falls asleep, or any other reaction not listed above = no, and...
Be careful. One of my cats when I was a kid (back in 82) was sitting peacefully in the lid to my Star Frontiers box set and then suddenly decided to sharpen his claws on it.
Doh! No worries, though, it's just a homemade dice tray I threw together using the wooden box from a Melissa& Doug play sandwich kit and some green felt. ;-)
Aww he's adorable my cat does that too
ReplyDeleteThe dice tray is a good idea. Just as long as the creature respects your toys. [I like cats in theory, but I'm wickedly allergic to them.]
ReplyDeleteI've also said GMing group games is a bit like hearding cats. Now you can have the same experience in a solo game, you've reached Lone Wolf nirvana.
ReplyDeleteSomeone wants attention! :)
ReplyDeleteMoonSylver he's lonely why can't cats play too😿

Going off to play test this...
roryb bracebuckle awesome the pet owners rpg I'd pay for that
ReplyDeleteSince I'm a dog person, I'll have to go with the tell tale tail. Of course, the trick is the tone of voice used to ask the question. :-)
ReplyDeleteTodd Zircher that's a great system to ☺
ReplyDeleteHer name is Duchess and she's pretty darn sweet. I did have to lint roll the dice tray, but luckily it's a +1 vs pet hair lint roller.
ReplyDeleteWas that an Unexpectedly result of 9 or 15?
