With the start of school and extra curriculars it's been a busy house this month. However I was lucky enough to squeeze in a solo skirmish this afternoon. I've been collecting Minifigures over the summer and now have enough that most of my wargaming can be played with them.

With the start of school and extra curriculars it's been a busy house this month. However I was lucky enough to squeeze in a solo skirmish this afternoon. I've been collecting Minifigures over the summer and now have enough that most of my wargaming can be played with them.

Today I had an imperial patrol trying to keep bandits / rebels from crossing the river. The rebels on the other hand were attempting to locate a lost relic to assist their cause.

The rebels had archers while the patrol had none, but a a good series of rolls off the bat allowed the imperials to take up defensive positions while their wizard cast a mist over the battlefield. The mist greatly limited line of sight, negating the archers somewhat.

The turning point was when I got over zealous with the rebel leader and moved in close enough to start shooting at the imperials holding the bridge. A poor roll and follow up had him surrounded and slain in short order. Most of the rest of the rebels headed for the hills, while those remaining were underpowered for the job at hand.

  1. Where did the terrain and hex bases come from?

  2. James Carr The terrain is from Heroes of Normandie (and expansions).

Hex bases can be found here: brickarms.com - BrickArms Hex Stand LEGO Minifigure Accessory Display Base RPG

  3. Side note, I had been using the squares for measuring distance. It was convenient but very limiting. I've since gone back measuring sticks and free movement.

  6. Carsten Rossner at the moment I use either Song of Blades and Heroes or Frostgrave. The one in the photos was played using SBH.

  7. I like the use of minifigs. How do you buy them? Do you buy the random packages?
I have seen the random packages and thinking about using them as random group generators. Grab five packs, and that is your party. Grab five more, that's who they are facing.

  8. Chris Stieha some come from larger Lego sets, others I get from eBay, custom Minifigures resellers or the occasional short lived Chinese bootleg kiosks. But never blind bags. I'd rather gamble on the lead content than the bag content.
