So following my birthday, and the present I received, I've settled on a superhero campaign.
I now just have to choose what game I'd like it to be. I have a few ideas, but am currently undecided on which one to pick, here's the list:
Serious
A street level campaign, with three characters that I've had milling around for little while. One a techie, another a matter swordsman, and another an illusionist.
Lego superheroes
If you've played a Lego videogame you'll know where I'm coming from. I wouldn't use an established character, possibly the same three as above.
Emergent superhero
A normal bloke is present during an asteroid strike and should gain super powers, the only way to find out is try and see whether he can use a super power, with humourous results.
Superhero school
Like Hogwarts but for superheroes. My character is the son of the city's greatest hero so should inherit great powers, only they haven't developed yet. Quite similar to the above, but with developed heroes and a general acceptance of supers. I think I favour the year zero approach above.
So the question is - which one to choose?
You're right there aren't so many. There are some hiding in games here and there but no real definitive source.
ReplyDeleteI'm sort of undecided at present what tools I'll use or repurpose, most are sci-fi, which are easier to get, and some depend on the game I'll run.
For pure supers look at Modern Despatch 66, probably the only system neutral supers adventure generator I know. Check RPGNow/DrivethruRPG for it.
More pleasingly, I hope, I will be developing my own tables, which I will be sharing during October in preparation for Solo Gaming Month.
OK, so it's October today, so just a month to SGAM.
ReplyDeleteI've finally put some info on my blog http://solo-heroes.blogspot.co.uk/2015/09/superheroic-game-choices.html
I will count votes today, so this is your last chance to vote!
POLL CLOSED
ReplyDeleteThe winner is Street level heroes.
Now I need to get everything ready for SGAM.
