Hi,
I was thinking about this idea again of having actual persons act as the facade of an oracle for players. The idea is for the asking players to be unsure whether the result is from an actual oracle, or if the person acting as a facade picked the answer themselves.
I was thinking of adding a section to this group for players to ask oracle questions that can be answered by any member here. For example, a player could ask of the group:
"Is the door open?" and then receive yes or no.
"What does the door look like?" and then receive a Mythic style answer like "Heal/Misfortune"
"Roll me a random event," and then get "NPC action -- Lie/Dreams "
"Roll me a pair of story cubes or zero dice" and get a link to an image.
Etc.
The cool thing is that the person answering the question could at any point choose to answer the questions themselves, instead of passing the question to an oracle. This can keep the asking player wondering if their adventure is being partly driven by an actual person.
I can add a section to this very group if this would make you more likely to use it, though I'm concerned about spamming other members with notifications. On the other hand, you can use what was called the "Un-Solo" g+ group for this purpose, if you're interested.
Let me know what you think.
haha, I've also heard "chinese box" related to this one. :)
ReplyDeleteI hope it catches on, for selfish reasons. I'd love to GM a game, but I don't have the time or chops to do it fully. The next best thing is to act like an oracle. :)
I think the illustration you selected is of the so-called 'Mechanical Turk', is it not?
ReplyDeleteYup!
