Still continuing to use concordances, but now I'm mixing that up with using a Bayesian formula to come up with the odds of some things given facts established in the fiction (or made up on the spot, as needed). Bayes comes mostly into play when I have some assumptions about how the flow should go but don't want to fiat things, or when I've constructed a potential flow out of concordances I've collected.

I've asked a few questions about using Bayesian inference as an Oracle of sorts here and on RPGNet. I'm still not sure I'm doing Bayesian inference correctly, but at least it looks like I'm getting consistent numbers to roll against. Feel free to chime in about that if you have any ideas.

As always, I somehow never find time to play, so things are progressing rather slowly.

Thus, I have decided to already upload my session report of the initial cut scene of my current #Libre #Solo #Roleplaying session (my first try at it). Despite being a first attempt, I am already bending things a bit as the mission is not handed down as an explicit mission, but rather as a need the PC wants to deal with out of her own free will.

Comments and hints are always welcome, of course.

Actual Play: Our Last Best Hope - The Killer Asteroid - Act 1 - Scene 4 - Taking on the Threat

I think this scene came out well. It was fun, in part because I got to engage more with the crunchy bits, and also got to engage with the parser (which output is the closest thing I've felt to roleplaying with someone, especially when the phrases pretty much demand no interpretation, or something close to that.)

Still using the text parser for dialogue and also now for a "Narrator" who might frame the scene. I'm using the the movie transcript text assigned to MIMIC (the MIMIC 'voice') for the Narrator and NPCs in this scene at least.

I've still had to occasionally dig deeper into the parsed text for phrases that fit the context, especially when the conversations relate to relationships between characters. Chalk that down to the downside of randomness and the contents of the movie transcripts. A well chosen or constructed text to parse might fix this but I'm committed to the texts I assigned.

Need to playtest this further as it uses a strict turn order and I'm not sure if this is fun on the long run. But I'm smitten.

And it made me wonder, What does your Solo Roleplaying setup look like? We see plenty of pics and art of group roleplaying games, but I don't think I've seen any similar Solo Roleplaying like the image below.

What do you have to hand? All analogue, or all electronic, do you prefer online virtual dice rollers, or the physical dice in your hand? Paper Notepads or Tablets / Laptops?
