Hello guys! I have a curiosity about the routine of a solo player. When we play in groups, we usually have a certain agenda - what day of the week or month we play, which is the time of the session - In a group, there is, usually, a routine.
And what about RPG solo? Do you have something like that?
I, for example, play 3 times a week, always at night after work when my wife and my son have already been sleeping.
On Mondays I play Vampire, using Mythic; Wednesdays I play a high fantasy scenario using Bivius Tunnels and Dragons; and on Thursdays I play classic D & D adventures, using Miso ...
That sounds very systematic, does not it? Lol
I want to know how - and IF - you organize your game routines...
Spencer Salyer - TableTop Simulator, Roll20, and other virtual table top programs might be the thing for you. You set up and play a game without the board getting pawed by critters and kinder. It's also super cool that you can save your game and pick it up later without additional take down or set up time.
ReplyDeleteBack in the day, I wrote VMAP so I could do stuff like that for PBEM gaming when my son was a toddler.
Spencer Salyer it is one of those luxuries that I really enjoy.
ReplyDeleteFor me the routine is that I will usually play around with prep work in the early mornings when the house is quiet. Then when the time is available I will start up a game with the bits and pieces I've worked out before hand. That may mean a few mornings of putting together minis and terrain, reading rules, designing play sheets and such. The games themselves usually get played over a few days in stolen moments or in the evenings when the rest of the family have activities.
I tend to play an encounter in the hour or so before bed, or in the mornings while drinking my coffee on my off days, really just whenever I have the time to get into a game, 10-20 minutes here & there
