HUMAN ORACLE QUESTION!

HUMAN ORACLE QUESTION!

At the end of my last post, Hanson was ready to set off to get more information. The scene seed is "Trick an Actor into revealing a Clue." At this point, her best point of reference is Cora, and who she is working for. BUT, other leads could be "who has a grudge against Dona (the religious revivalist) and/or Blaine (Dona's "patron")?" Or, something else entirely.

So, help me out!

Who should the "Actor" be? Is he a human? Vampire? Something else entirely?

What information MIGHT he have for Hanson?

Why won't he reveal it willingly OR for a bribe?

Where do they meet? A hot and happening nightclub? Swanky gallery opening? Down by the docks? Somewhere less cliche?

Does Hanson know anything about this guy (or girl)? Does she know any kind of "trick" that MIGHT work? Whatever is is, it should be difficult to pull off, and Hanson's best Social Attribute is her Appearance, if that helps any.

Anything else interesting that could happen?

Oracle me!

  1. So, is the question "Who has a grudge against Dona?"

  2. Alex Yari Good point. I was overly verbose.

"Who is Hanson going to meet?"

  3. another question (sorry!), do you want people to give you mythic like answers that you interpret (i.e. keeping you guessing whether they used an oracle, or picked two/any# keywords/images deliberately), or do you want actual verbose answers?

  4. Whatever they feel inspired by!

Person A: He's a desperate gambler looking for lost love.
Person B: Frank Johnson was a cop. A damn good cop. Which made it all the more galling that he was stuck here, guarding a bunch of paintings and the rich assholes who like to look at them. But five years ago he had busted a ring of drug runners, who had been protected by a corrupt circle of homicide detectives and....

    Both are awesome.

  5. I would look at what would be most utterly uncomfortable for Hansen.

The person she's going to meet is a vampire, maybe 20 or so in appearance, with delicate hands and a cool, collected manner. A priest, in a past life, who has lost all faith. A pacifist, who refuses to fight even if you're beating the crap out of him. "Resigned" sums him up.

Owen works at a thrift shop, a dusty, quiet, 24 hour one, next to a run-down community theater. Depending on the time of night, you'll find him in the thrift shop sorting clothes or in the theater watching a very old movie (sometimes he quotes the movie instead of answering questions directly, it's aggravating).

He saved Hansen's life once, and took some sort of injury over it, like a bad sunburn or a shattered limb, but he never reminds her of this or tries to call in the favor, and it makes her kind of angry with him because who is he to make her feel guilty?

He's keyed into the homeless scene; he ministers to them, keeps the other predators from hurting them too much, they feed him. He might have seen something on his nightly rounds, or been approached by someone who did. He won't talk because he doesn't want Hansen getting into trouble, and the person he saw/was told about was important and powerful and scares him.

His primary motive, other than apathetic survival, is to collect things for the thrift shop. He's also attracted to Hansen but won't act on it overtly. He's lonely but has terrible self-esteem (being abandoned by his god and all).

Otherwise, he's that super casual, good-hearted kid who always has a couch for you to crash on and sensible advice.

A trick could also be a lie, right? Maybe convincing the target (either the homeless person or Owen) that she's in a position of authority?

  6. This is what I've got, from cutting up your session text and trying to read something in it:

Hanson meets a tiny Chinese woman who looks like she could be a century old. I don't know how come they meet, but Hanson can somehow, instinctively, tell this woman is not alive. Not in the sense that normal people are alive.

The tiny woman might have something to say about organ trafficking—might even be involved in it.

The location is a burnt out pagoda. A storm seems to be gathering in the distance.

  7. I see a Malkavian who is totally disconnected with reality, but is immensely potent in Auspex, although it's largely uncontrolled. He acts out a mishmash of all of the constant input he receives from thousands of minds he uncontrollably reads. She has to trick him into tapping into something that's useful. Maybe convince him to leave the safety of his haven (agoraphobia) to get close enough to Cora so that he can tap into her mental broadcast.

  8. I also like the idea of Blaine being involved somehow. Maybe on her way to check back in she sees him talking quietly with some shady character: a mortal or a ghoul, something that isn't super hardy, and could be easily killed on accident if a fight broke out.

  9. ... we need to make six of these so you can roll!

  10. We have 4 so far. Could roll a D4 if he wanted. Or on a D6: 5 = pick 2, 6 = pick 3.

  11. Thanks guys, I rolled a 3 (using Chris Campbell's chart) and so Hanson will be meeting the powerful but agoraphobic Malkavian and trying to con him into helping her.

  12. Also, while I'm going with the Malk, Father Owen will certainly be making an appearance.
