Life has been busier lately, so not much gaming was happening. However, I received Bolt Action 2nd Edition for Father's day. I'd been interested in it for a while, and it was a great gift. My main interest was to have a use for all my ASL chits that I acquired in my stuttering start to learning that system.
While Bolt Action breaks it's platoons into individual soldiers, Ive been having fun learning the rules and adapting them to the chits and hexes. The rules are much more streamlined than those which the components were designed for, but still leave enough choices to avoid it feeling too generic or boring.
I'll certainly be picking up the Osfront campaign book and army books for the Germans and Soviets in the future.
In the photo: The Soviets need to break through German lines and push into territory beyond the maps edge.
ReplyDeleteThe Germans (green die) had a string of lucky draws, enabling them to move into defensive positions. Most exciting was the sniper being able to get to the roof of the tallest building on the map.
The Soviets (yellow die) first move was to push the Forward Artillery Observer up and call for an Artillery Strike...which ended up being delayed.
Love it! I keep pondering my ASL boards and 6mm skirmishing
ReplyDeleteIvan Sorensen I think 6mm would work well if you ignored the hexes. It might work even better if you had access to the bigger Deluxe ASL boards.
