I'd like to expand on the resolution cards found in Itras By, and create tables for several different yes or no outcomes to roll on. What could be added to the following outcomes to add more flavor or give ideas as to what happens next?
Yes, and...
Yes, but...
Perhaps...
No, but...
No, and...
Fo example, some of the Yes, but... responses I have so far are:
...you use up a lot of time, supplies, or some other resource.
...you earn a new enemy, debt or bad reputation in the process.
...your success has dangerous and unintended consequences.
Have you seen the Whimsy cards?

I also like the Abulafia "But Cards" generator:

"No, because what you want isn’t what you need."
"Yes, but it costs you something dear."
I didn't know about those. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteNorwegian-style Resolution (Yes/No) and Fate cards are what I am currently use to drive my games. They are very well designed as they are. Maybe, if you want more randomness than that provided by the resolution cards, you could add a Fate card from time to time. The Fate cards I use are those from Archipelago III. Cool stuff :) norwegianstyle.wordpress.com - Archipelago III !
