I think some folks here like WoD stuff. There are currently two sales of Vampire The Masquerade going on:

One is the revised edition on Humble Bundle, which currently has 20 different pdfs including the core book (with more to come).

The second sale is for Vampire 20th Anniversary edition at dtrpg, and it has the core book + companion, and 3 other supplements.

I'm not too familiar with either line, beyond what I learned from the GURPS version of VtM, but I do love a good bargain. Can anyone give me a quick rundown of these editions? What they love and/or hate?

  1. They're both solid. My problem with both V20 and Revised is that neither is really written for a NEW player or GM. They both assume you're already played the earlier edition, and that's a pretty piss-poor approach to take, in my opinion.

V20 it makes sense, as it was designed to be a compilation for the fans, but Revised is just awkward. Of the two, I'd get the Revised bundle, mainly because the supplements are pretty solid. Though, again, not a big fan of how the metaplot took over in that era.

That's my main hatred, and it's subjective. My "dream" Vampire was only ever a small part of the published works, so I'm probably not the best person to comment on these things. And I can rant about some of the minor rules tweaks that annoyed me...but, again, they're minor.

So, again, if you're interested, I'd grab the Humble Bundle of the two. I mean, even with all my petty griping, it's still my favorite RPG of all time.
