Has anyone tried the Mythic RPG system with or without the GME? It looks simple and narrative enough with its descriptive attributes. It looks a bit boring to me but perhaps the appeal is that it gets out of the way and works natively with the GME?

  1. I did a few years ago. I don't know how good a job I did, but I liked the way that it blended with the fate chart since both share the same terminology.

  2. it's not bad but I prefer to add a solo system to many different rpgs and settings :)

  3. Oh, one thing I do remember is that combat felt pretty deadly. I think it has a death spiral effect.

  4. I got it mostly for the GME. It's possible that by the time I got to where the thought of solo gaming was conceivable, I already had several systems that I was either already familiar with or interested in, so I just skimmed over the non-GME parts.

  5. Same deal, I have dozens of systems that I want to try/playtest.  The GME helps with that.  The RPG is just so far down on the to-do that I may not get to it this decade.  :-)

  6. I've been meaning to at one point.

I sort of did it in the form of statting up a boss character.

  7. The GME component of Mythic is excelent. And in my opinion works great.  However as a general system, i think its not so great. The issue is the fate chart.

Using it a few times per scene to answer a yes no question works, especially as you tend to use the one column for the entire scene.

Using it for contested rolls, where both the row and column vary for every single roll, sometime multiple times in a single turn, thats not so greate. Its slow and its kind of clunky.  Some aspects of the rules as written, like the do I get to go next quesiion are really, really broken.
