I don't know how to make characters for Mythic. I know how to make scenes... I read it years ago, didn't understand it, and let myself forget about.it. Rereading it leaves me reconfused.
My PDF library is vast. I read new books and reread old books very often. But I've heard people talk about how useful mythic is as an oracle and recently for world building. I feel like I'm missing something.
Not sure what you mean by making characters for Mythic. Make characters for your RPG of choice, set up your scene, and as you play ask the Mythic GME oracles the questions you'd ask a GM. Can you give an example of where you get stuck?
Chad Robb I believe that most of the praise for Mythic is directed to the Game Master Emulator. If you have the whole system (and I believe GME is included in there as well), it might be the source of your confusion: most people use Mythic GME together with a different game system and so character creation, stats and mechanics are from that other system of their choice.
You do have Mythic, not only the Mythic GME, right? The GME is only the solo engine for replacing the GM/DM of your favourite RPG. By itself, it does not constitute a complete game (although you could use it for storytelling games without stats).
Mythic GME has just 53 pages, Mythic Role Playing has 146 pages, so which one do you have?
Yours, Deathworks
P.S.: I really like the RPG part as well, especially free form character creation and the combat rules with their flexibile iniative.
No need to feel silly, you're making a good point. I suppose it's easy to get the GME and think it's a complete system, and then wonder where the heck the character creation section is. If you picked up the more complete red book then that's probably going to make more sense to you, if you choose to use those bits. Most people skip that part and go right to the emulator, which is why I broke it out into a separate book a few years later.
Maybe try a different system Chad?

That's my problem. I thought they skipped the character parts.

I just had the emulator. Now I've got the system.
