It seems that each of them works differently. You'll need to read the introduction text for each of them to figure out what it's about and how to proceed.
Stephan Beal I've read several of them. Each time, the text makes you choose between abilities, weapons and magic... But, I can't find a story. It just looks like a "choose your own level 20 character sheet"
i looked at 2 of them and it was similar. One of them ended after the "setup" and the other one said to continue on to some other CYOA, but didn't say where it could be found.
I tend to look at those as a way of kickstarting fiction or possibly as a way of creating a premise for use with the RPG of your choice rather as a standalone game in their own right.
