One thing i really like is the option in Mythic of creating unexpected scenes, altered scenes and so forth, when you are moving from one scene to the next.

I'd like something a bit more robust than Mythics option for it though (which just has the choices of Altered or Interrupted scenes).

Any suggestions?
I really really like the "CRGE" (Conjectural roleplaying gm emulator) but it doesn't seem to have anything like this.

  1. CRGE has the "and unexpectedly" component that alters scenes, such as causing characters to enter or leave the scene or modifying the outcome of the scene. You could modify the list of potential results to create scenes as well.

I also roll a die (size depending on how often I want to be interrupted) and see if the number is smaller than the number of scenes that I have played. If so, something big happens, like an NPC becomes the focus or a complication butts in, etc.

Also, I don't know what you want with "more robust."

  2. Yeah, I'm looking at switching to CRGE instead of Mythic so I may have to play around with that more. I like tying it to hte number of scenes.

Mythics system is handy but there's only two outcomes (Altered and Interrupted). Ideally, I'd want something with more potential results. I think you're right that the random event lists from CRGE could easily be used.

  3. If you add to the list, be sure to post it here, because I know other people (me me me) will be interested. I posted my additions here a while ago, but they can also be found in RND issue 2.

  4. Have you looked at Free Will? It's an add-on for Mythic of sorts. Somewhat like the Scarlet Heroes points-based structure, and with lots of different scene "types". It's on the Mythic Yahoo Group. I've only used it once or twice, but it definitely sounds like it might meet your needs.

I have the same dilemma between CRGE and Mythic. My personal solution was to put a 5% chance of random event and then 20 different random event types, like "plot -> plan comes to fruition" or "world -> natural disaster", but I use scripts a lot.
