Interesting use of mind mapping software. I just started using a similar app for GM prep, but I hadn't yet thought of its potential for solo play. (Currently I just use the Mythic GME flash webpage created by Artifex.)
For your next game, how about you find out what's on the other side of a black hole's event horizon? :P
Also, you mention whatever ruleset you used for this game was "using ideas from Fate". I use the Freeform Universal RPG for solo play, and it definitely has similarities with Fate but minus pretty much all numbers and crunch, which makes it flow quite well in solo play. Maybe it could suit your needs too? Just a suggestion in case you hadn't heard of it.
there were parts that are very similar in FU and Fate to what are on the cards of the gamemasters apprentice like the yes/no system , i have tried to keep with just the cards as i have found that it helps to keep me focused on the game and not allow the mind to wander and get distracted which i found was my major disruption to my game
so i used a "fate ladder system and assigned values to the skills , there is a bell curve of 1-10 on the cards so skills were assigned a fate tree number from 7 to 2
special equipment was given a value of 1-2 and wounds and other effects assigned a negative value to a relevant skill
my only "fudge" was what monsters would attack , this was more a pick what i thought would be in the area and how many and how strong they were , i still have to work this out to make the game totally gmless.
what i have at the moment i think is about 70% gmless and my aim is to try to get the system i have developed to be 100% i think what i am after is to create a character/setting/world with in 5 minutes and have a 3 hour game which i hope ends in a cliffhanger for the hero
so watch this space , the previous poster of whats beyond the event hoison could be interesting , i would use ideas from mindjammer as your character could be a living ship like the one from farscape
