James Carr Very nice article. I've been thinking about using Fate Accelerated as a framework for solo gaming, but I just haven't put in the time to get my head around it. I read through the Core book last year and was blown away by both the loose and fast feel and the detail level at the same time, but as so often happens with me I daydreamed the system to death as some other system popped up on my screen.
I just received my City of Mist book Thursday; all I could do all day Friday was daydream about the absolutely gorgeous artwork! Can't wait to see more from you on it.
City of Mist has amazing production quality. At first, I was wondering if the cost would be worth it, but they made an excellent product.
Fate Accelerated works pretty well solo. It's easier borrowing ideas from Dungeons of Fate (linked below). I get the same analysis paralysis with Fate and games Powered by the Apocalypse. Since the Fate SRDs are free, I keep referring to them for ideas. :D
I'm think I've come up with a game design based on Dresden Files Accelerated and using Mantles as Mythos from City of Mist. Less paperwork involved but still character oriented. And I may be guilty of playing the board game a lot the past couple days. >_>
