Hello guys! I would like to know what you guys think and how your experience is/was when playing through module adventures ... I spent the last 4 months playing some classic D&D adventures, and I came to the conclusion that this is definitely not for me ... all the time I get the feeling that it seems to me a poorly finished version of a "Choose your Own Adventure" type of book (don't get me wrong... I really love CYOA books, that's why I am comparing...I still love Fighting Fantasy books).

I wonder, especially if someone had a different experience, who knows even the opposite ... I also accept tips!

  1. Scott has some great ideas there, and I think you could translate them to traditional RPGs by "deconstructing" the module, as Lone Crusader blog suggests.

  2. John Feldman The adventure isn't a constraint, but a background. I think that we can't be player and GM as the same time. I see myself like a storyteller. I use both module and storycubes and it became cool when the story deviate. Old d&d modules are cool, but to long and repetitive for solo play without random funny event

  3. Lunar Gin What I am saying is that any adventure module doesn't need to be adhered to. I felt comfortable being the GM and the player at the same time. In my solo game, I tried to run the combat fairly for both the PCs and the monsters. I realize that this is quite different from a group game. Because of this, the Story Dice, Miso Rpg, and other mechanics allowed me to throw some surprises in and this added more to the adventure than as written.
