I've decided to make my own smashup in order to get the game experience I've been looking for. I have an idea for a quest, a location, and I've built about 25 pages of "tables" which I will roll on (most with a d100) to create the environment. I used monsters from D&D, as well as potions, treasure, etc. To define some of the particulars, I will be using the mythic fate table. I have a couple more tables to build then it will be game time. Any advice on how to maximize the scenario? I took some ideas from 4AD as well.

I gave it a couple runs and going solo I died in the first room twice. Need to make some tweaks.
ReplyDeleteTodd Zircher 4AD is a RPG that was built for solo play. Not a lot of story there, you basically just dungeon crawl but it is a lot more fun than you would think. You can pick it up on drivethrurpg for pretty cheap. Worth the price in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteI'm gradually becoming more willing to create my own tables and hack others for my own needs, versus my earlier "RAW" focused experiences. I would recommend checking out Scarlet Heroes--it's a great game on its own, and I'm currently reworking the basic tables and game setup for other genres than fantasy.
