Oh, awesome! I was thinking Grosse Point Blank, myself, in between bouts of laughter (yes, I was totally stared at). Definitely bad dice luck, but at least nobody's family got eaten by a lion, that's good, right?
I should admit that "the gift" is just a pretentious, kind of consistent with flavor, and space saving way to say "turning point", ie, after this everything will be different (channeling RPGs where the world ends 3/4 of the way through). Definitely something to address in version 2!
