Does anyone know where I can find more of these type of original characters?
How is there a way to play D&D and other games like it more simple?
As of right now I'm playing Dungeon Crawl, D100, IronSworn, Destiny Quest (book series).
I want to find a way to combine them to make my own type of game to do missions and grown my players and have a depth world all in one. I know it's a perfect dream but that's my goal. Thanks.

This is a challenge for me sometimes too: wanting to play, having just enough time to play, but not enough time to play AND figure out a system. I end up spending my time learning the system, making a character, and then running out of time to actually play.
ReplyDeleteIf I really love a game's content and atmosphere, but I am okay leaving the mechanics behind, sometimes I'll speed things up by using my oracle to decide everything crunchy about a game and using the game's content only. The mechanics and rules of the game I use for inspiration and to guide oracle questions, but I feel no need to adhere to or even learn the system.
So, you might play a D&D game using character class archetypes and spells, but use the oracle to determine everything from combat to damage and everything else. As long as you have some basic idea of how the RPG works, it'll give you enough guidance in posing oracle questions, and then you just use all the content and cool bits any way you like.
This is also a way to combine RPGs that have content that would work well together but mechanical systems that don't mesh.
