In view of SGAM2016, I have been reading a lot of stuff. In particular, I found out a very small niche of story-telling games with miniatures. Some are related with "the Matrix game" by Chris Engle.

In view of SGAM2016, I have been reading a lot of stuff. In particular, I found out a very small niche of story-telling games with miniatures. Some are related with "the Matrix game" by Chris Engle.

I have also been reading WarStory by Ivan Sorensen, something just one step closer to a typical skirmish game.

Also Archipelago and Storyleaves recently came up in G+ conversations. There's a mini-based version of Archipelago (a Grail Epoch), and Storyleaves (almost) is a solo-Archipelago. So one could think of a Storyleaves with miniatures.

Too much stuff to try, but everything is very interesting :)

Archipelago III (mentioned by Tina Trillitzsch):

Storyleaves (mentioned by Bobbi Blackcat):

There are a number of links about Chris Engle's Matrix Games, but I don't know if there is an official set of rules.

This page describes a version which includes "shadows". A shadow is something like a "blind" that can resolve into anything You may use a shadow to make up new locations, characters, and shadows as needed. I find this concept intriguing.

  1. Chris Stieha Links added! I also added a comment about "shadows", a specific feature of matrix games. They basically are blinds that can resolve into anything. I think they might be fun for solo exploration / investigation games.
