Jamie Holm Yes, there is a time associated with traveling each hex. It used to be one day per hex multiplied by hyperspace multiplier of your ship, however, that resulted in way to long travel times that don't fit what we see in the movies, so I reduced it to one hour per hex multiplied by hyperspace multiplier. However, the only time this would matter is in a time sensitive adventure, where you have to be someplace in a certain time. It is unrelated to the encounter frequency. For random encounters during hyperspace travel it is one encounter check per hex. An encounter occurs on a 1-2 on a d6. Encounters during hyperspace travel are somewhat of an oddity, however, since according to most Star Wars rpg rules (no matter the system or edition) you are actually pretty safe while in hyperspace. So only in rare cases I force an encounter upon myself (like when it is a technical difficulty or something). Most of the time the encounters are optional and take the form of distress calls, strange sensor readings or whatnot that I can choose to investigate or not. I generate these encounters the same way I generate planetary encounters: Mythic or story cubes or any other random idea generator. I don't have an encounter table in the classic sense.
Jamie Holm Do you have any actual play reports posted someplace? Would love to read your stories as well. And I too have very fond memories of the D6 system. We played the hell out of it 20 years ago in high school me and my buddies. And the WEG expanded universe stuff was just the best.
Thank you for those notes. Very helpful. I do not post my results. I sent you a message on g+, I can send it to you. It's fun.
I started RPing with WEG Star Wars at the age of 11. You're right, it's expanded universe was really great. It's still my preferred version of the Star Wars universe.
